General Requirements to Rent a Car in Baltimore, Maryland
Spirit Rent-a-Car requires that all renters and additional drivers possess valid Driver License, be at least 21 years of age, and present a major credit card.
Driver’s License Requirements
The driver’s license must be valid at the time of rental, and remain valid throughout the rental period. All drivers must possess a driver’s license issued by any U.S. state, territory or possession or a license issued by a Canadian province. All other customers please check with the rental counter for further information. Certain restrictions and exclusions may apply.
At the time of rental, a renter or additional driver may be subject to an electronic DMV check from the state that issued the driver’s license.
Collision Damage Waiver Requirements
Collision Damage Coverage is required for all customers renting from Spirit Rent-a-Car. Customers have the choice of using their own verifiable and transferable full-coverage insurance, a credit card that provides rental car coverage, or customers may purchase our Collision Damage Waiver for an additional daily fee.
Spirit Rent-a-Car rents to underage customers between the ages of 21-24 with a major credit card and valid driver’s license. At the time of reservation, we will automatically apply an additional $14.99 per day underage surcharge. If you have any questions about underage driving restrictions, please contact us prior to your arrival at the rental counter.
Please be advised that the requirements for the additional driver are the same as for the primary renter. Customers are encouraged to review all required qualifications to rent a vehicle. A minimal, $9.95 per day, Additional Driver fee will be charged on the rental contract. Please check with the rental counter for further Additional Driver information. Credit Card Requirements
At the time of the rental, the renter must present a major credit card in their name with a minimum available credit to cover all estimated rental charges. Spirit Rent-a-Car honors all major credit cards:
Spirit Rent-a-Car will generally request an authorization hold against customer’s account for the estimated charges of the rental but reserves the right to request additional deposit based on certain factors, as we deem appropriate. Upon return of the rental vehicle, we will process the reversal but the bank may take time to process it back to the account.
Split Billing Option
Spirit Rent-a-Car offers a split billing payment option, which provides billing flexibility. Customers may split their rental charges on two separate credit cards.
If renter fails to return the vehicle as agreed, Spirit Rent-a-Car will obtain additional authorizations from renter’s account to cover the rental and any additional charges, which occur during rental period.

Spirit Rent-a-Car offers custom rate plans for business and insurance clients that makes renting easy for you and your employees. Enjoy the benefits of your rate plan at any one of your neighborhood locations, for business or pleasure. For all inquiries, contact your local rental counter.
Reservation and Cancellation Requirements
All reservation will be held for one hour past the scheduled date/time. If the vehicle is not picked-up and reservation was not canceled at least 48 hours in advance, customer’s credit card will be charged a $50 No Show Fee. To make changes or cancellations, please contact your pick-up location and we will be happy to assist you.
All rates are based on 24-hour day rentals. Rates are for class of vehicles, makes and models may vary.
